Frequently Asked Questions on ESMonitor

• Why does ESMonitor show no device when running ?

  • After a new installation, please make sure you restart your PC to set propery the EtherSound Driver.

  • Make sure that your PC is properly connected to at least one device through a direct Ethernet cross cable or a switch, and that link to your EtherSound device is 100Mbits/s FULL DUPLEX.

  • Check in the AuviTran Service Control Panel that Service is turn ON and that you have selected the proper NIC (Network Integrated Card) to which your EtherSound devices are connected.

  • When there is multiple Network Card plugged in the computer, selected card appearing in Control Panel might not be card used by ES-Server. To avoid, please do a complete reselection of card on Control Panel, using the combo box.

  • If you are using latest EtherSound API version, older AVY16-ES firmware might prevent you from seeing the whole network. You need to update your AVY16-ES to latest firmware version available on the website.

• Why can't I turn the Auvitran service on in the Auvitran Service Control Panel

  • CCheck that the EtherSound driver has been properly installed.

  • Restart your computer after a new installation if not done automatically.

  • On some Laptops after exiting from "Sleep mode", EtherSound driver does not restart properly. Therefore a reboot is needed.

  • Ensure that service is enabled on your hardware profile. To check this, launch Services from Administrative tools, and Select Log On tab on AuviTran EtherSound Service properties.

• Can I use a Wifi connexion between my PC and the Primary Master EtherSound device?

  • It is not recommended to use Wifi to directly manage EtherSound devices even if the case a 100Mbits/s full Switch is connected to EtherSound device (EtherSound low level driver cannot manage a system where the loss of packets is too important, this may result in a wrong configuration of the system setting). If there is no other way to manage your EtherSound device, be sure you have a reliable connexion and 54Mbits/s links.

  • Wifi connexion could be used to connect remote PC running EtherSound monitor to a PC running AuviTran EtherSound service.

• Why is my hierarchy modified after a manual selection from AVS-ESMonitor?

  • If the automatic hierarchy option is activated for the service, with the presence of old device in the network, the manual hierarchy detection will be overwritten at next hierarchy automatic check.

• What if MIDI Yoke driver does not appear in the MIDI configuration page in the ControlPanel?

  • Be sure that MIDI Yoke driver is installed on your computer.

• What if AVY16-ES host device is not recognized?

  • Make sure that Host is redirected to the AVY16-ES slot in your Yamaha device.

• Why only one AVY16-ES recognized Yamaha host where I plugged two AVY16-ES?

  • Only one mini YGDAI card can be used for MIDI control in a Yamaha device and therefore only one AVY16-ES will reckon where Yamaha host it is plugged.

• Why does Yamaha Studio Manager work only in one direction?

  • Please check that the MIDI Yoke ports selected for Input and Output are different.

• Why I can't synchronized with Yamaha Studio Manager?

  • If AVY16-ES used for MIDI tunneling is not Primary Master (head of the EtherSound network), network latency might hang up or crash Yamaha Studio Manager.

  • If AVY16-ES Primary Master and Yamaha Studio Manager can't be synchronized, try to increase MIDI settings value available through Control Panel. Beware as these parameters might hang up or crash Yamaha Studio Manager, if values set are too high.

• Why I can't use the latest EtherSound API?

  • When Auvitran released the AVS-ESMonitor version 2.2.0, the latest EtherSound API version 1.26 was not fully qualified with AVY16-ES. Therefore AVS-ESMonitor is furnished with certified API version 1.24.

  • With ESMonitor v2.4 and above, software is furnished with both latest API and v1.24 for compatibility. If you want to use latest version, just check that your AVY16-ES has the latest firmware inside to be fully compliant.
